Billionaire Biomedical CEO Alfred Mann to Headline
American Israeli Medical Association BioMedTech Conference
in L.A. November 15, 2011
October 26, 2011(Los Angeles, CA) – The American Israeli Medical Association (AIMA) today announced it will hold its first, annual BioMedTech Conference at Los Angeles’ Skirball Cultural Center on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. According to Dr. Ben Drillings, director of AIMA, the keynote speaker for the event will be world-renowned aerospace and biomedical entrepreneur and philanthropist Alfred E. Mann, chairman and CEO of MannKind Corporation. Mr. Mann has founded 17 companies over six decades including: Spectrolab, Heliotek, MiniMed and Advanced Bionics and developed key health products such as pacemakers, cochlear implants and insulin pumps. The topic of Mann’s presentation will be “Creating Medical Device Enterprise.”
The AIMA conference will be a major event featuring leading Israeli dignitaries and key scientists and executives from Israel’s thriving research and biomedical companies. Joining Mann are a bevy of prestigious speakers: David Seigel, Consul General of Israel in Los Angeles; Jacob Offenberger M.D., President, AIMA; Dr. Zeev Feldman, Chairman, IMA-WF; and Dr. Ben Drillings, Director & Founder, AIMA. Over 300 attendees are expected to attend to hear about Israel’s leading BioMedTech companies. As of 2010, there were over 1,100 BioMedTech companies operating in Israel. Of those, 41% have formed during the last five years and 34% have already begun to generate revenue.
