The Benevolent and Protective Order of Sunland – Tujunga Elks recently completed their 2013-2014 campaign to provide 3rd graders with new dictionaries. The Elks distributed 500 dictionaries to children at seven different elementary schools in Sunland, Tujunga and Shadow Hills. Funding for the dictionaries was raised by the Elks’ two ongoing events: their monthly breakfast and their bi-monthly dinners.
The Elks host a lavish breakfast on the third Sunday of every month, from 9 a.m. – noon at the Elks Lodge, 10137 Commerce Ave., Tujunga. The breakfast includes an omelet bar with a choice of 11 ingredients, hash browns or country fried potatoes, southern style sausage, gravy and biscuits, bacon, ham, sausage and fresh fruit. The cost is only $7.50 and the general public is welcome.
The Elks also hold two dinners per month on the 2nd and 4th Fridays from 6:00 – 7:30 . The cost is $10.00. The menu ranges from fish and chicken to spaghetti, meat loaf with macaroni and cheese, or roast beef, all prepared by Elk Head Cook Earl Bouchard and his team.
No reservations are required for either the breakfast or the dinners. Just show up and support the Elks in their fundraising efforts.
